Aluminium composite panel facade in Batumi: cassettes on a subframe
We build an aluminium composite panel facade from factory-made cassettes on a ventilated facade subframe with insulation. On facades we use only panels with a fire-retardant or non-combustible core, 0.5 mm aluminium and a PVDF coating, and hang the cassettes on pins with no fixings on the face. A ventilated facade of composite cassettes with materials starts from 380 ₾ per m².
from 380 ₾/m²FR composite cassettes, aluminium subframe, mineral wool with membrane. The final price is confirmed once agreed.
- Timeline: a composite cassette facade of 150 m² usually takes 5–9 weeks including fabrication
- Warranty: Composite panel facade installation has a 2-year warranty

Aluminium composite panel facade: how it works
An aluminium composite panel is two coated aluminium sheets with a core between them, usually 4 mm thick overall. At the factory the sheet is routed and folded into cassettes of the required size, and on site they are hung on a ventilated facade subframe. The result is an even metal plane with thin joints in any colour, from white and graphite to metallic and copper. An aluminium composite panel facade is common on offices, shops, hotels and modern houses.
Behind the cassettes there is an ordinary ventilated facade: insulation, membrane and air gap. How we build it is described on the ventilated facade page.
The core: what goes on a facade
| Core | Behaviour in fire | Where we allow it |
|---|---|---|
| Polyethylene (PE) | Burns and melts | Not on facades, only signage and interiors |
| Fire-retardant (FR) | Mineral-filled, burns weakly | Private houses, low buildings per the design |
| Non-combustible (A2) | Almost entirely mineral | Multi-storey buildings, hotels, escape routes |
PE, FR and A2 look the same; the difference shows only on the cut edge and in the documents. So we check the panel class against the batch certificate and the marking on the back of the sheet, not the seller's word.
Aluminium thickness and coating
For facades we use panels with 0.5 mm aluminium on each side. Cheap sheets with 0.2–0.3 mm aluminium ripple in the sun, and a large cassette looks like crumpled tin. A house by the sea needs a PVDF coating: it holds its colour and does not chalk under UV and salt. A polyester coating is cheaper, but on south walls it loses gloss and colour within a few years.
Metallics have a direction: the shade changes depending on how the sheet is turned. Arrows are printed on the protective film, and all cassettes of one wall are hung the same way.
Cassettes, joints and junctions
Cassettes are hung on pins or in rail slots, with no through-fixing on the face. Joints are either open, 10–15 mm, showing the dark subframe, or closed, with an insert profile. An open joint looks more modern and needs no sealant, which ages quickly by the sea. Reveals, parapets and canopies are made from the same composite, the cassette wrapping around the corner without a joint. The layout is drawn before ordering so that joints follow the axes of windows and floor slabs.
We remove the protective film right after a wall is installed, no later than a few weeks. In the sun the film adhesive bakes onto the coating, and removing it without marks later is difficult.
Composite, HPL or porcelain
Composite is lighter and cheaper than HPL and gives a perfectly flat metallic plane. HPL is better if you need a wood-look decor, while porcelain withstands knocks and does not scratch, so it is used lower down more often. These materials are often combined on one house: porcelain on the ground floor, composite or HPL panels above.
How much a composite panel facade costs
A ventilated facade of aluminium composite cassettes on a subframe with insulation and materials costs from 380 ₾ per m²: cassette fabrication, aluminium subframe, mineral wool with membrane, installation. Installation only with the client's materials from 135 ₾ per m². For comparison: HPL panels from 505 ₾, porcelain on a subframe from 445 ₾ per m². Reveals and sills from 54 ₾ per linear metre, scaffolding from 18 ₾ per m² of facade. The final cost is set after the cassette layout and an agreed estimate.

Local specifics in Batumi
By the sea in Batumi the coating and fixings matter most. PVDF holds its colour in the sun and is not affected by salty wind, while polyester-coated cassettes lose their gloss faster on the sea side. The subframe is aluminium, the fixings stainless steel, and we fit pads between different metals, otherwise corrosion starts at the contact points.
In summer dark composite cassettes on a south wall get too hot to touch. The aluminium expands, so the cassettes must hang with a gap and be able to move on the pins. A cassette screwed rigidly around its perimeter starts to ripple within a season.
Materials and brands
Aluminium composite panels 4 mm with 0.5 mm aluminium and an FR or A2 class core, PVDF coating. An aluminium alloy ventilated facade subframe, pins and rails for cassettes. Facade mineral wool and a windproof membrane. Stainless steel fixings and paronite pads. Insert profiles for closed joints, and a dark membrane or painted subframe for open joints.
What makes up the cost
Timeline: a composite cassette facade of 150 m² usually takes 5–9 weeks including fabrication
- open or closed joint
What raises the cost
- a non-combustible mineral core
- metallic, copper and special coatings
- many windows, parapets and complex cassettes
- a tall house and long scaffolding hire
What lowers the cost

Questions and answers
How much does a composite panel facade cost in Batumi?
A ventilated facade of aluminium composite cassettes on a subframe with insulation and materials from 380 ₾ per m². Installation only, with the client's materials, from 135 ₾ per m². The price depends on the core, coating, cassette size and the number of windows and parapets. The final cost is set after the layout and an agreed estimate.
Are composite panels on a facade safe in a fire?
Safety depends on the core. Panels with a polyethylene core burn, and we do not put them on facades. For private houses and low buildings we use fire-retardant FR, for multi-storey buildings and hotels non-combustible A2. We check the class against the batch certificate, since they look the same.
Why do composite panels on a facade ripple?
There are two reasons: thin aluminium in the panel and rigid fixing. Sheets with 0.2–0.3 mm aluminium warp in the sun. A cassette screwed around its perimeter with no room to move bows when heated. We use 0.5 mm aluminium and hang cassettes on pins with a gap.
Which composite coating should I choose for a house by the sea?
PVDF. It resists UV and salt and keeps its colour and gloss for years. Polyester coating is cheaper and fine for signage and interior work, but on south walls by the sea it chalks and fades within a few years. The coating type is stated in the batch data sheet.
Which is better, composite panels or HPL?
Composite is cheaper, lighter and gives a perfectly flat metal plane in any colour. HPL costs more but comes in wood and stone decors and takes knocks better. For a metallic modern facade people choose composite, for a warm wood look HPL.
