Pool maintenance in Batumi: what a visit includes
Pool maintenance in Batumi during the season means one or two visits a week, and more often in hot weather or when the house is full of guests. On each visit the technician checks the water and equipment, cleans the shell and the surface and writes a short report with photos. For an owner who lives abroad this is the key point: you can see that the pool is clean and everything works, without calls or guesswork.
- water testing: pH, free chlorine, and salt level for salt pools;
- chemical balancing based on the test results;
- skimming leaves off the surface, cleaning skimmers and the pump basket;
- vacuuming the floor and brushing the walls and waterline;
- backwashing the filter by pressure;
- checking pumps, heating, dosing and lighting;
- a report with photos after the visit.
Water: why it turns green and cloudy
Most often water goes off because of low chlorine or high pH, weak filtration and heat. After a downpour dirt, leaves and pollen get into the water, and the level and chemistry are thrown off. If the water has turned green, we shock-treat it and clean the filter and floor over several visits in a row until the water is clear. To stop it happening again, we check the filtration run time and the condition of the sand or glass in the filter.
Spring and autumn
In spring we open the pool: remove the cover, clean the shell, raise the level, check and start the equipment and bring the water into balance. In autumn we winterise it: lower the water below the skimmers, empty the pipes, fit plugs and put on the cover. On the coast a pool is usually not drained completely. Pool winterising can be included in the overall seasonal winterising of the house; more on the seasonal winterising page.
If the house is let
For a house to let, the visit schedule follows the bookings: the pool must be perfect on the day guests arrive. After check-out we check the water and clean the shell if guests have left dirt or beach sand. Pool maintenance is convenient to hand over together with house management; more on the villa and house management page.
Repairs and leaks
If the water level drops faster than evaporation explains, we look for a leak: we check the fittings, pipes and lining joints and do a bucket test and a dye test. We replace sand or glass in filters and repair pumps, electrolysis cells and heating. If the lining is coming off or the shell leaks, we repair the shell with new waterproofing and mosaic, as in construction; more on the concrete pools page.
Chemicals and consumables
Chemicals are not included in the price of visits: how much is used depends on the pool size, the weather and the number of swimmers. We buy them ourselves as agreed with the owner or use yours, and store them dry and away from the equipment. With salt electrolysis fewer chemicals are needed, but pH is still corrected.
How much pool maintenance costs
In-season pool maintenance, one or two visits a week without chemicals, costs from 600 ₾ a month. A one-off pool clean from 300 ₾, spring opening and start-up from 600 ₾, winterising from 690 ₾. Green water recovery from 840 ₾, leak detection from 1 200 ₾, filter sand or glass replacement from 510 ₾. Shell repair with new waterproofing and mosaic from 450 ₾ per m². The final cost is set after inspecting the pool and agreeing the terms.

Local specifics in Batumi
The season in Batumi is long and hot, and in summer the house is often full of guests. In the heat chlorine is used up quickly, and without regular visits the water goes off within a few days. Downpours throw off the level and chemistry, wind off the sea brings leaves, sand and pollen, so after a storm we come outside the schedule.
High humidity and salty air speed up corrosion of metal in the plant room: pumps, heat exchangers, electrics. On visits we check not just the water but the plant room too: for leaks, condensation and rust. In winter on the coast a pool is usually not drained but winterised, and once a month we check the level and cover.
Materials and brands

Questions and answers
How much does pool maintenance in Batumi cost?
In-season maintenance, one or two visits a week without chemicals, costs from 600 ₾ a month. A one-off clean from 300 ₾, spring opening from 600 ₾, winterising from 690 ₾. The final cost is set after inspecting the pool and agreeing the terms.
Why does pool water turn green?
Most often because of low chlorine or high pH, weak filtration and heat. After a downpour dirt and pollen get into the water, and the chemistry is thrown off. We shock-treat it, clean the filter and floor, and then check the filtration run time and the filter sand so it does not happen again.
Are chemicals included in the price?
No, how much is used depends on the pool size, the weather and the number of swimmers. We buy chemicals ourselves as agreed with the owner or use yours. With salt electrolysis fewer chemicals are needed, but pH is still corrected, and salt is topped up after downpours and refilling.
How often are visits needed?
In the season usually once or twice a week, more often in hot weather and when the house is full. With automatic dosing and salt electrolysis visits are less frequent. In winter we check a winterised pool once a month and after storms: the level, the cover and the plant room.
How do you find a leak in a pool?
First we compare the level loss with evaporation: we put a bucket of water on a step and compare the levels after a day. If the pool loses more, we check the fittings, pipes and lining joints and use dye. Most often leaks are at fittings and in the pipes under the pool surround.
